Our Mission

First Greater Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church is a christian community working together to share the good news of the gospel to residents and visitors of the city of Chicago. Through a network of church leaders, event gatherings, training events and resources FGBMBC is committed to God’s word as we give him all the Glory.

To enable this to happen there are people and ministries in our community pushing this common vision. All this requires is time, investment and application of the gifts God has given to each of us.

What We Believe

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

The Bible is God’s word to all men. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.

Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like him in character. He is the supreme object of God’s creation. Although man has tremendous potential for good, he is marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.”

Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is your public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Baptism does not save you, but shows the world that you have already been saved.

We are a group of Christ-followers motivated by the Great Commission and the Greatest Commandment to love God, love our neighbor, and make disciples of all nations.

We proclaim and live the Gospel, affirming that we all need daily bread and the Bread of Life. In fighting spiritual poverty, we are confronting one of the greatest challenges of our day in service to an even greater God.

We look for areas where our services can make a tremendous difference—

places where poverty is stifling dreams and opportunities are scarce. With these goals in mind, we launch HOPE-managed programs or partner with existing organIZATIONS

Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Minister Leon

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.

Minister Lewis

I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me
